    Iram was created 45 years ago. Its experience in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and more recently in South Asia and Europe allows it to develop skills in four complementary fields :

    - Agricultural policies and food security, for which the main areas of focus are : setting up regional economic blocks, connection between agricultural, macroeconomic and sector-wide policies, analysis and organisation of food chains, land tenure policies and food security.
    - Rural organisations and small enterprises through : supporting services for rural producers, supporting for farmer organisations working within the food chains, supporting the stakeholders and small enterprise training.
    - Local financing and microfinancing by : implementing micro-finance programs, long-term support of micro-finance institutions and studies (impact analyses, projects and programs assessments, recommendations concerning the micro-finance sector,…)
    - Local development and management of natural resources, whose areas of focus are : local administration and governance, natural resources management and agrarian systems, social management of rural hydraulic systems, decentralisation and local planning.

    Iram aims to combine skills, ethics and professional excellence. Its research activities concern every stage in the project cycle. Iram is also involved in support and consultancy activities. Diverse development programs are carried out at local level, in collaboration with national partners. The whole of these interventions form the basis for the carrying out of research projects focusing on methodology.
