Far from being exhaustive, here are some organisations, networks and platforms involved in programme learning.

AICAD African Institute for Capacity Development: Facilitating indigenous people to solve the problems of Africa by sharing information, experiences and best practices in the region.

Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières : publishes analyses of its rural development projects.

BOND: United Kingdom's network of organisations working in international development. The Learning and Training Programme (http://www.bond.org.uk/lte/index.htm) at BOND is a way to pick up new skills and share experiences

Cerise : platform sharing experiences, studies, information and publication on microfinance.

CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation: is dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society. It provides a focal point for knowledge-sharing, common interest representation, global institution-building and engagement.

Coordination SUD : through its NGOs support programs, it plays part in spreading and exchanging information and methods on experiences analyse.

Cota : a Belgian development NGO, it specialised in the technology and the methodology of development.

Development Gateway (World Bank): puts the Internet to work for developing countries by increasing access to critical and relevant information on development challenges.

Dialogues pour le progrès de l’humanité : created by the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind in partnership with the Ritimo documentation centres. This network diffuses useful information by way of "experience cards".

Educasol : platform of development education and international solidarity. This site provides teaching aids and "experience sheets".

F3E : the aim of the Fund for the promotion of preliminary and transversal studies, and assessments is to support the non governmental development organisations to improve the quality of their programs by providing them the tools necessary for analysis and assessment.

GDLN: (The Global Development Learning Network): offers the use of advanced ICTs, enabling people working in development to communicate, share knowledge, and learn from each others’ experiences.

GDN (Global Development Network): is a network of research and policy institutes working to address development challenges by generating, sharing and applying knowledge for development. The web site communicates development research documents.

Gret : a member of Groupe initiatives, it places considerable emphasis on the analysis of experience and communication on development. Its Publications are one of its privileged tools for experience analysis, enhancement, and dissemination of services and expertise to help development.

Groupe URD leads programs of practical research on the development implementation of international solidarity projects.

GRDR : a member of Groupe initiatives, it works, by giving value to Africa and France and their migratory evolutions, to ensure a coherent development within these two zones. By analysing its experience, it improves the migrants' issues of citizenship involvement in France and in their country of origin.


IDRC: International Development Research Centre: public corporation working in close collaboration with researchers from the developing countries, to help them use science and technology to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems they face.

ICRA: International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture: is to enhance the capacity of individuals and institutions to work together to develop and disseminate innovations that will improve and sustain rural livelihoods. It facilitates hands-on learning of professional skills needed to address complex problems in sustainable rural development. [...]ICRA’s strategy has evolved from providing courses for individuals, to engaging more continuously with institutions, and helping to build partnerships and inter-institutional teams that can influence institutional change and development in the longer term.

IICD (International Institute for Communication and Development): assists developing countries to realise locally owned sustainable development by harnessing the potential of ICTs. It works with partner organisations, helping stakeholders to assess the potential uses of ICTs in development.

IISD: International Institute for Sustainable Development: Through research and through effective communication, it contributes to engage those involved in development cooperation to develop policies and projects that are simultaneously beneficial to the global economy, the global environment and to social well-being.

Interaide : animates a network whose goal is to exchange ideas and methods on development activities. It diffuses index that provide analysis on experiences in fields such as health, education, employment, finance and social activities.

Inter-réseaux : is a place for debate and exchange of experiences. It is specialised in rural development in developing countries. It plays part in disseminating widely these analyses.

INTERSARD: a network of developing and developed countries partners sharing information related social and technological innovations in sustainable agriculture and the management of natural resources in rural areas.

Intrac: the Praxis Programme is about enabling civil society organisations to become more effective by linking theory and practices in the field of organisational capacity building.

Iram : a member of Groupe initiatives, it enhances, through its publications, services and expertise in fields such as support services for rural organisations, natural resources management, microfinance and agricultural policies.

KM4DEV Knowledge Management for Development

ODI (Overseas Development Institute): Britain's leading independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian issues, working by locking together high-quality applied research, practical policy advice, and policy-focused dissemination and debate. The website proposes online publications (http://www.odi.org.uk/publications/index.html)

Open Knowledge Network: wants to build local capacity by supporting knowledge sharing across the developing countries.

pS-Eau : network which gathers representatives of various public authorities, local communities, research institutes, development NGOs and professional water organisations. Here one can find a database of organisations and a wealth of resource documents.

Rafod / Ciedel : : a member of Groupe initiatives. Here one can find a wealth of resource documentation on local development, environment and assessments.

Ruralter: platform dedicated to strengthening people working in development in the Andes, by sharing and disseminating relevant and practical knowledge.


Waicent (World Agricultural Information Centre - FAO) : FAO’s gateway for managing and disseminating relevant technical information on agriculture and food security.
